Silvia Martinelli is Research Grant Holder and Adjunct Professor at the University of Turin and she obtained the Italian National Qualification for the role of Associate Professor in Private Law.

She wrote two monographies: “I contratti della platform economy. Ruoli e responsabilità delle piattaforme, Giappichelli, 2023” and “Diritto all’oblio e motori di ricerca. Memoria e privacy nell’era digitale”, Giuffrè, 2017. She is co-editor of the books “Manuale di diritto privato e nuove tecnologie” and “Legal Tech, Contract Redesign and Big Data per professionisti e imprese”, 2022. She wrote many scientific articles about private law, contracts and new technologies, such as “Ai as a tool to manage contracts” in European Review of Private Law.

She is winner and PI of a Jean Monnet Module “PLATFORMLAW – Platform & Data Economy European Legal Framework: platform, data-driven business models, AI and contract automation” and team member for the University of Turin’s Projects PARASOL (PlAtfoRm ASsessment tOoL, POV 22), RETEL – Reshaping Education for Tomorrow’s European Lawyers and TuTeLa (Turin Tech & Law: a Lab for Social Good, Eccellenza 23-27).

She is Adjunct Professor in Istituzioni di diritto privato e diritto di famiglia and Platformlaw at the University of Turin. She teaches in many courses including the LLM in Law of Internet Technology (Università Bocconi), the post-graduate courses in “Data Protection e Data Governance”, “Big data, artificial intelligence e piattaforme.”, “Coding for lawyers e legal tech” (Università degli studi di Milano), the Jean Monnet Summer School on technological innovation and the new legal education (University of Turin), the Master in Innovazione digitale e Legal Compliance (COREP).

She is also member of the Advisory Board of the Master’s degree in Human Centered Artificial Intelligence of the University of Milan, in collaboration with the University of Milano-Bicocca and the University of Pavia, Academic Fellow of the Department of Law of the Università Bocconi, Fellow at the Information Society Law Center (ISLC) of the University of Milan, Fellow at the Turin Observatory on Economic Law and Innovation (TOELI), at the Istituto Universitario di Studi Europei.

She is corresponding member of the Unione dei privatisti, Fellow of the Italian Academy of the Internet Code, Senior-Articles-Editor of the Journal of Law, Market & Innovation (JLMI), TOELI Research Papers coordinator, member of the Board of the Journal of Strategic Contracting and Negotiation and of the Editorial Committee of the Law Reviews “Ciberspazio e Diritto”, “Diritto, Mercato e Tecnologia” and “Diritto di Internet.

She is also Lawyer and Strategic Research Manager in Data Valley, where she deals with research related to data-driven business models and the development of high-tech solutions and services.
